Firestone Tire Performance Recap: We saw a number of different tire strategies over the weekend, with first-time winner Simon Pagenaud taking the checkered flag on the primary tires. James Jakes, using a different tire strategy, opting to finish on the alternates and held off Mike Conway to take second place. Conway, winner from Dual 1 on Saturday, again ran a very strong race to take third place on the primaries.
From race winner Simon Pagenaud, #77 Schmidt Hamilton Motorsports Dallara/Honda/Firestone: “The car was super-fast and the (Firestone primary) black tires were very good today. The (Firestone alternate) reds were just perfect and worked really well at the beginning of the race."

Pagenaud Escapes Carnage to Collect First IndyCar Win
Simon Pagenaud recovered from early front wing damage in his #77 HP Honda to race to his first career IZOD IndyCar Series victory in the second half of the Chevrolet Indy Dual in Detroit doubleheader. It also delivered the first series win for the Schmidt Hamilton Motorsports team.
