Fast Six: What's trending in INDYCAR

Updated:

INDYCAR's #FastSix is a report that borrows from all things found online about NTT IndyCar Series racing, its drivers and people. We find pics, quips and the occasional GIF as INDYCAR drivers live their extraordinary lives and put the evidence on Twitter, Instagram and more. Check back regularly for the latest.

A champion’s work is never done

Winning the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge brings with it a multitude of duties for the newly crowned champion. Simon Pagenaud took on the chores with enthusiasm.

During the winner’s photo shoot on Monday, he showcased his brooming abilities after a month of May sweep that included a win in the INDYCAR Grand Prix.

🧹 Clean sweep on May!! What a dream! 🙏🏼🙏🏼 #indy500 #indycar #ThisIsMay pic.twitter.com/0SK3fqfNsr

After that, it was on to the Big Apple, where Pagenaud rang the bell to open trading at NASDAQ.

And what would a trip to New York be without a stroll along Times Square wearing his firesuit and draped in the Indy 500 winner’s wreath? Just the latest superhero in costume at the “Crossroads of the World.”

For a dog’s life, it’s not too shabby

Pagenaud says that Norman, his Jack Russell Terrier, may be more popular than his owner. Norman participated in the Indy 500 victory fun as well, hoping one day to get his likeness on the “Bork-Warner” Trophy ... though we think "Bark-Warner" has a better ring to it.

Norman also enjoyed some fine dining in New York.

Rossi finds joy in the despair of defeat

Alexander Rossi came oh-so-close to winning his second Indianapolis 500 on Sunday but fell short in his epic duel with Pagenaud. Even though he was disappointed, he made sure to make time for one of his biggest/smallest fans.

Dale Earnhardt Jr.: Ferrucci fan club charter member

After his stellar run to rookie-of-the-year honors in his first Indianapolis 500, Santino Ferrucci was almost at a loss for words explaining his experience. During the race, he made a new fan in NBC analyst and former NASCAR star Dale Earnhardt Jr.

What a cool dude

Thanks for the love man, hope to cross paths again 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Making a statement by taking a stand

Drivers and their significant others traditionally make a trip along the red carpet as they enter the Indy 500 Victory Celebration on the night after the race. Robert Wickens may mostly travel by wheelchair at the moment as he continues rehabilitation following his serious crash last year, but the Arrow Schmidt Peterson Motorsports fan favorite wasn’t about to pass up the opportunity to stand with fiancée Karli Woods for the official banquet photo.

How many ways can this guy make us admire and respect him more? Well done.

Last night @itskarliwoods and I did a party trick! 🎉 What a great event! Thank you IndyCar for the invitation and congratulations to @team_penske and @simonpagenaud on an amazing race and accomplishment.

True meaning of Memorial Day weekend

Graham Rahal constantly reminds us that Memorial Day weekend is truly to honor the members of the military, past and present, who serve to protect our freedom. And that the Indianapolis 500 is just part of that celebration.

The Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing driver felt lucky to have a few veterans in his corner on race day and made sure to thank them for what they do.

I was honored to stand next to some of America’s bravest yesterday, and today we honor those who’ve given their lives. Forever grateful to all who serve our country.#memorialday #alwaysremember #memorialdayweekend #grateful #honor #veterans #freedom #indy500 #gr15 #15in19 pic.twitter.com/zNnaymatuk
