“The Mid-Ohio race is special for the entire Firestone Race Tire Engineering team because it’s as close as we get to a home race. The circuit is only 75 miles from our Bridgestone campus in Akron, Ohio, which is where all Firestone Firehawk race tires used in the NTT IndyCar Series are designed and produced. This weekend at Mid-Ohio allows us the chance to bring many of our tire builders, engineers, technicians and their families to a race to watch and celebrate the results of the hard work they put in all season. This year the primary tire compound and construction are the same as the 2019 Barber primary tire. The alternate construction is the same as the primary, while the alternate compound for all four tire positions this year is similar to what was used on just the left side alternate tires for last year’s 2018 Mid-Ohio race. We’ve gone to one alternate compound on all tire positions to make the car more balanced moving from primaries to alternates based on driver feedback.”

- Cara Adams, Chief Engineer, Bridgestone Americas Motorsports

Located just 75 miles from the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, the Bridgestone Americas Technical Center and the nearby Advanced Tire Workshop in Akron, Ohio, serve as home to all design and production for all Firestone Firehawk race tires used in the NTT IndyCar Series. In addition to extending Firestone’s partnership as the sole tire supplier for the series through 2025, Bridgestone announced plans earlier this year to build a new, state-of-the-art race tire manufacturing facility in Akron. A team of more than 50 expert tire builders and manufacturing professionals will gradually move into this new site over the next four years and expect to produce its first race tires for testing by the end of 2020.

The durable, dependable Firestone tire technology that champions have trusted for more than a century is available to all drivers. With more than 500 company-owned stores and authorized retailers within 100 miles of the Cleveland and Columbus metro areas, race fans don't have to go far to purchase Firestone passenger tires for their personal vehicles.
